“His divine power has
given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him
who called us by his own glory and goodness” (2 Peter 1:3 NIV).
Do you realize that every day you have
the divine power within you to make right choices? Are you calling upon that
power to help you make decisions that affect other people? You see it is very
easy to forget that we as Christians have within us the power of the Holy
Spirit which gives us wisdom to make the right decisions in life. Have you ever
wished you could have a “do over”?
At my grandson’s birthday party the boys
and my two sons went outside to launch some water balloons. This balloon
launcher is held by to adults while the little boys put the balloon in and stretch
the launcher as far back as they can. The balloon can fly over 200 yards if it
is done right. Well, my one grandson tried to launch it and it just fell a few
feet ahead of him. My son said, “That’s a do over, Nat.” So he got another water balloon and shot it
way over the fence. Yep, that “do over” worked out well.
Have there been times in your life when you
wanted a “do over”? Were words spoken that hurt someone? Did you do something
that hurt someone deeply? Did you lie? Did you choose the wrong job? I am sure
you could add more to this list. I have a recommendation for you that will help
you so that you won’t have to worry about “do overs”. It is praying each
morning and during the day for guidance from the Holy Spirit. God has given you
divine power but you must hook up to it in order for you do make right choices
and say the right words. You must believe that this power can be tapped at any
time. I guarantee you that if you live this kind of life, one that is grounded
in faith, you will have few desires for a “do over”. God wants you to live a
life that is pleasing to him. You must be the one to put forth the effort in
order to make it happen. Pray that the words that come out of your mouth are
beneficial to others. Pray that the choices you make will please God in
everything you do. This is available to you. Now do it.
Dear Lord,
I know that your divine
power is available to me. Help me to make sure that all I say and do is
pleasing to you so that I won’t regret words spoken in haste that hurt others.
Help me to always pray for your guidance every day of my life.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
